Arizona-Tombstone

I got to my aunt mary's house in Buckeye, Arizona last friday, and have been hanging out here ever since.  Friday i mostly tried to start healing from my evil sunburn and just relax a little bit.  In case anyone ever gets a bad sunburn, putting noxzema on it really does take a lot of the heat and sting out of it.  That night we ate at a mexican place called Filiberto's which was surprisingly really good.  Saturday morning my aunt, her boyfriend, and i all got up early and went for a bike ride around their subdivision which is very pretty and a very relaxing way to start the day.  We did some shopping that day up in goodyear and then just came home and relaxed the rest of the day.  Sunday was our big trip down to Tombstone, which has been one of my favorite places i've visited on my trip so far.  It is such a cool place and has so much history there.  I knew before we even got there that i was going to have a good time and it definitely lived up to my expectations.  Tombstone is another place i wish i could've spent more time at, but it's going on my list of places to go to again.  There's a lot more there to see and do than i think we expected and it's definitely one of those places you could spend several days in.  I really want to go back at night and do one of their ghost tours, since that is one of the most haunted places in the country.  The main street going through town is closed off part of the way so they can preserve the history of the town which i think is pretty cool.  There are shops and saloons and restaurants lining the streets and all sorts of people dressed up from that time period to help and answer any questions you have.  You can go on trolley tours or stage coach rides through the town and they also have walking tours to go on to get the history and feel of tombstone.  We went through the tour of the Birdcage Theater, which is one of the most haunted places in tombstone, and where they have kept everything as it was from when it was opened......dust and all.  It was really cool to see all of the old posters and card tables and old bedrooms still decorated the way they used to be.  My favorite thing in there was the old hearse and and mortician's tools they used, and they even had the coffin there that they used in the movie tombstone.  We ate at The Longhorn Restaurant, which had really good food and a great atmosphere, with old pictures and decorations all along the walls and ceilings.  At 2pm every day there is a reenactment of the shootout at the ok corral.  They do some scenes showing you the life of the soiled roses(saloon girls ;) and some other scenes leading up to the big gunfight.  The OK Corral really isn't that big and the gunfight itself really only lasted about 28 sec, leaving 3 dead and 3 wounded.  The group that did the reenactmens were really good and very entertaining and i would highly recommend going to see them.  We went into several shops and they have just about anything you could ever want cowboy or tombstone related.  I even found myself a really pretty green dress that i ended up getting after some convincing from my aunt....thank u aunt mary, i do love that dress.  After our day in tombstone we stopped by and went out to dinner with some friends of my aunt and her boyfriend.  Their friends live in Green Valley and they have an amazing view of the mountains from their front yard.  I also thought it was pretty awesome that i could see a palm tree and mountains all in one view =)  We went and ate at the Longhorn Grill in Amado, which the front of the restaurant has been used in several films.  Across the street was the Cowboy Palace, where a lot of old western actors used to go and eat at while they were filming their movies nearby.  I love places that have so much history and character to them =)
